Blocked Toilet or Blocked Drains

Here are quick tips to deal with blocked toilets or drains.

  • First of all, Switch off the water supply at the mains.
  • Thereafter, locate the tap that provides water supply to the toilet itself and turn it off. The tap is usually located either beside or behind the toilet.
  • Never flush the toilet as it put more water down the drains, making the situation more challenging.
  • If you accidentally flush the toilet or water started coming out for any other reason from the drain, don’t panic and lay down old towels and rugs to soak the water, thus preventing it from spreading.

Burst Water Pipe

Follow the steps mentioned below if your water pipe bursts.

  • At first, don’t panic and locate the water tap which generally lies either on the front lawn or in the garden. Shut off the water supply immediately at the mains water tap.
  • In addition to the main water tap, switch off the water heater that feeds the tank.

Burst Gas Pipe

Carry out the steps mentioned below if your gas pipe bursts.

  • Firstly, turn the gas supply off, either from the Mains Gas Meter or LPG bottle.
  • Never perform any such activity that creates a spark or naked flame; otherwise, it will lead to a big accident.
  • If you are using LPG Gas supplied in bottles, then:
    • Keep LPG aside. However, if the leak is at the bottle and indicates a personal risk, call the emergency services right away to avoid any mishappening.
    • Keep in mind that LPG is heavier than air; hence it will fall to the lowest point.
    • You should open doors and let the heavy LPG gas escape.
  • Follow the tips if you are using Natural Town Gas:
    • It must be kept aside at the meter.
    • Since natural gas is lighter than air, it will surely rise in the house. To prevent any hazard, open doors, and windows to avoid suffocation.

Hot Water Heater

Here’re some practical tips to manage the trouble with the Hot Water Heater.

  • Turn off the water supply both at the Hot Water Tank and mains water meter.
  • Don’t panic if your hot water tank bursts and immediately lay down towels and rugs to soak water. This prevents water from spreading onto the flooring or carpet. Call RUTTLEY SERVICES now and our experts will reach your place as early as possible.
